Design comparison

Both iPhone 11 and Pixel 4 are not quite different from their predecessors in terms of looks. Both of the phones are very comfortable to be navigated with one hand even though iPhone 11 is a bit bigger in size.

Google Pixel 4, alongside the Google Pixel 4 XL, can be seen as the Google’s latest advancement towards developing a phone that combines the best of Android and strong specs that are capable enough to support complex AI tasks.

The feature for which this phone can be placed in the line of other top-tier handsets is its camera. However, the other upgrades do not win extraordinary prominence over Pixel 3, which is also a great phone. One of the reasons for this may be the Google’s intention to play safe while bringing upgrades to the phone.

Release date and starting price

Google Pixel 4 was released on October 24, 2019. And what may come as a surprise is that this phone is available from all of the major US carriers. In UK, this phone can be purchased from Vodafone, EE, and O2. In Australia, this phone is available on Telstra, Vodafone, Optus and other carriers.

The price of Google Pixel 4 starts at $799 / £669 / AU$1,049. This is the price of the model with internal storage capacity of 64GB. And model with internal storage of 128GB costs $899 / £769 / AU$1,199.

Design

Despite the fact that Google Pixel 4 doesn’t look entirely different from Pixel 3, this phone has been given some design upgrades. The major upgrade in design is the aluminum frame that covers the phone from its circumference. This metal frame is covered with a rubberized black coating. And another major upgrade is the matte finish on the back. The functional advantage of this entire design is that it provides better grip.

It’s OK if these design characteristics do not sound premium to you because they are not. But you are going to love handling this phone due to its finish. That’s what Google seems to have focused more while developing the design of this phone.

Overall, Google Pixel 4 is a smaller phone when you compare it with flagships from other manufacturers. It has much smaller 5.7-inch display. If you like to use phone with one hand, Google Pixel 4 is the perfect handset for you. This phone comes with the dimensions of 147.1 x 68.8 x 8.2mm and it weighs 162g.

Display

While Pixel 4 is a smaller phone as compared to other flagships, it’s a pretty nice piece of tech. The first thing to see in this regard is the display of this phone. It’s a Full HD+ resolution which looks amazing through a bright and colorful OLED panel. And what makes this display even better is the higher 90Hz refresh rate which results in smoother experience when scroll through pages and play games.

Camera

Camera system of Google Pixel 4 is the feature which makes this phone worth going for. Although other features and specs in this phone are great, they are not convincing enough to help you make your mind to switch from Pixel 3 to Pixel 4. Camera, on the other hand, is capable to win the battle singlehandedly. There are two cameras on the rear side of this Google Pixel phone. If you look around, you will realize that a camera pack consisting of two lenses is pretty modest because we have started seeing three, four and even five sensors in the flagships. But in terms of image and video quality, Pixel 4 is one of the great phones.

The main lens on the back is 12MP sensor with an aperture of f/1.7. This camera provides a 77-degree field of view. And the second sensor is the new 16MP telephoto lens with an aperture of f/2.4.

The camera system is equipped with the better capability to perform in the low light. And telephoto lens enables you to have a zoomed-in shot at the objects without affecting the image quality.

The selfie snapper on this phone is an 8MP sensor which comes with an aperture of f/2.0 and provides 90-degree field of view.

Specs and performance

The performance of Google Pixel 4 is powered by the Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 855 chipset. And this processing power is complemented by 6GB of RAM. These strong specs give this phone a better ability to load and run apps without facing any lag of performance.

From the perspective of performance, one of the weakest elements of Google Pixel 4 is the shorter battery life. The 2,800mAh battery might not be enough to run the handset for a full day. It may be worth noticing that 2,800mAh battery of Pixel 4 is smaller than 2,915mAh of Pixel 3, which didn’t have a great battery life either.
